About Russell Bass & Sons Lumber

Russell Bass & Sons Lumber supplies firewood delivery to Fishs Eddy and the surrounding region. Operating as a full-service lumber business, they specialize in mixed hardwoods—the backbone of effective heating and long-burning fires.

Hardwoods are your best choice for firewood. Oak delivers 24–28 million BTU per cord, while hickory reaches 27–30 million BTU per cord. These species burn hotter and longer than softwoods, meaning fewer trips to the woodpile during winter. Properly seasoned hardwood (moisture content below 20%) ignites cleanly and produces less creosote buildup in your chimney—a real safety concern if you're burning wet wood.

Russell Bass & Sons handles the logistics so you don't have to. Firewood delivery eliminates the back-strain of hauling cords yourself, and professional suppliers know how to stack and position wood for airflow and protection from the elements. A full cord measures 128 cubic feet; many homeowners find a half-cord or quarter-cord sufficient for supplemental heating or occasional use.

When ordering firewood in Fishs Eddy, ask about delivery windows, stacking options, and whether the wood is truly seasoned. The business carries a 5-star rating based on customer reviews, a strong signal of reliability.

Typically, firewood in this region runs $200–$400 per cord depending on species and delivery distance. Call (607) 637-5253 to discuss your heating needs, confirm wood seasoning, and request a delivery quote. Have your cord quantity and preferred delivery dates ready—this speeds up the ordering process and ensures they can accommodate your schedule.

"I called this morning at around nine thirty from work and had my mother-in-law write a check. I paid her back when I got home. I don’t think it was even two hours from the time that I ordered it until it was delivered. It’s a good mix of different hardwoods. In past years I’ve had them deliver truck loads of logs. They were all good heavy loads. I’ve always gotten what I’ve paid for. I can’t say enough good things about them."

"Went there for small load of firewood, 3 guys neatly stacked a dried face cord in my pickup truck. Straight forward and no problems, fair price. Works for me."

"I've been a customer for many years and have always received great service. Always clean firewood. Their new splitter creates nice manageable sticks that stack easily and burn better. My wife uses the Bark Chip mulch throughout the yard and garden. A truck load goes a long way and saves money. (A light raking will separate out some of the larger pieces that I use for kindling starting the fire.)"

"Great, loaded me quickly, address did not come up in my truck gps, so I used google maps, exit 89 going to fishs eddy-old route 17 has a low clearance 11'10". Some guy said that if you drive in the middle you will clear it, however I'm taking any chances. You have to drive about 5 miles to the next exit."
