    About Alabama Firewood Producers

Alabama Firewood Producers — Firewood Delivery in Pelham, AL

Alabama Firewood Producers supplies seasoned and green firewood to homeowners and businesses throughout Pelham and the Southeast. With a 4.6-star rating across 28 customer reviews, they've built a reputation for reliable delivery and quality hardwood selection.

    Wood Types and Heat Output

The company stocks hickory, red oak, white oak, and pecan — all premium hardwoods that deliver solid BTU output for heating and cooking. Hickory ranks among the hottest domestic woods at 27–30 million BTU per cord, while oak varieties (red and white) produce 24–28 million BTU per cord. These species burn longer and hotter than softwoods, making them ideal for both fireplaces and wood stoves.

Services: Seasoned, Green, and Cooking Wood

Alabama Firewood Producers offers three distinct product categories. Seasoned firewood arrives at or near the industry standard 20% moisture content, ready to burn immediately with minimal creosote buildup. Green firewood costs less upfront but requires 6–12 months of stacking and air-drying before use. Cooking wood — particularly hickory and pecan — appeals to barbecue enthusiasts seeking flavor-forward smoke without the density demands of heating cordwood.

All orders include delivery, eliminating the need for personal pickup and splitting labor.

    Service Area

While based in Pelham, Alabama Firewood Producers delivers throughout the Southeast, making them accessible to rural and suburban customers beyond immediate Pelham city limits.

"Have been buying firewood here for years. I tend to barbecue for the church as fundraisers and have always gotten excellent hickory from AFP. The name has changed, but the service and product is still great. Oak, hickory, seasoned or green, they are always helpful."

"The price was great but the quality was not. I purchased about 80 pounds of wood and one bag of the split oak. The wood on the outside in piles were not seasoned and just had gone through some rain. It was expected they would need some drying out. The split oak wouldn’t light in any way, no matter how hot I tried to get the fire. It would only sizzle from the amount of water trapped in the wood. I asked if the wood was seasoned and dried, to which the man behind the counter said it was. I’m not sure what they consider seasoned, but the bags weren’t seasoned at all and the wood in the piles are not easily dried out. If you’re going to buy wood from here, buy it well in advance to allow for more drying. Otherwise it may just be better to cut down a tree yourself."
