"Owners are friendly, and everyone else there was nice as well. If you're looking for just firewood, this might be the place for you. However, if you're looking for smoking wood for cooking purposes, forget it. I asked several times if I could order cords (or any amount really) of specific woods. I was told to give them time and they would work on it. I waited several months but never heard back, and I didn't want to be that nagging person constantly calling to see if any hickory or cherry wood was available. I did call a few times while waiting, but I was told it would take some time. Most of us know quite well that when you continuously call, it gets annoying and people are even less willing to work with you. So you're darned if you do and darned if you don't in this situation. Annoyed with waiting I finally just purchased mixed hardwood so I could run my smoker. WORST decision I ever made. When I was there to pick up the wood and inquired about getting specific wood they proceeded to tell me how they supply cooking wood to Benvenuto's, said it shouldn't be a problem. I gave them my contact information again, but I've still never heard from them. As for the mixed hardwood, cooking with it is a complete waste of time. Flame isn't consistent from one piece to the next, some wood splits give off more soot than others, and heat produced is all over the map. Problem is, it's mixed, I don't know what is what and can't sort it. For hardwood some of it is dense and heavy like hickory and oak feels and other pieces feel almost as light as pine. There is no pine, but a majority of it is light like like that, so it's softer of the hardwood species, which is the stuff causing sooty flames, burns up fast, and makes my heat swing in the worst way. I've been buying bags of hickory from Wal-Mart, and it works perfectly. The splits are shorter, it's all one species, creates consistent heat, produces a nice bed of consistent coals as it breaks down, and doesn't produce a huge sooty flame. It's ideal wood, but not practical as it's expensive. Thankfully, I came across a little over a cord of oak recently, I'll be using that mid way through 2022 after it seasons. Oak works very nicely as well, unfortunately even the mixed hardwood from three oaks contain very little oak. Paid $300 cash for my cord of mixed hardwood. I was hoping to show I was a serious customer with cash up front. Apparently that doesn't mean anything. I will be getting my wood from a local saw mill that sorts their wood from now on and for right around $100 for a cord worth of wood."
"I am a regular customer for a few years now , more like 5 or so , this is where you get what you pay for . DRY wood that burns efficient . Doug and his Dad Jerry make sure of it. You can definitely depend on these guys and their crew. Three Oaks Firewood = Value"
