Valente Lumber firewood delivery in Averill Park, NY
Seasoned Mixed Hardwood firewood available at Valente Lumber

    About Valente Lumber

Valente Lumber is a firewood supplier serving Averill Park and the surrounding Capital Region. They specialize in mixed hardwood delivery, offering a practical solution for homeowners who need reliable wood supply without the time investment of sourcing and stacking cord wood themselves.

Their mixed hardwood offerings typically include species like oak and hickory—both premium choices for fireplace and wood stove burning. Oak delivers 24–28 million BTU per cord, while hickory ranges from 27–30 million BTU per cord, making either option suitable for sustained winter heating. The key to maximizing burn efficiency is moisture content; properly seasoned wood should measure around 20% moisture or lower. Before ordering, ask Valente Lumber about the seasoning time on their current inventory—wood dried for 6–12 months will perform far better than green or recently cut stock.

Firewood delivery eliminates the logistics headache of transporting heavy cords yourself. Standard cord measurements in the region are typically priced $200–$400 per full cord (128 cubic feet), though quotes vary based on delivery distance and load size. Half-cords and quarter-cords are available for smaller jobs or testing a supplier's quality before committing to a full cord.

When ordering, clarify delivery windows and whether the wood will be dropped at the curb or placed closer to your storage area. Ask about their current seasoning status and any guarantees on moisture content. With a 4.6-star rating from 73 reviews, Valente Lumber has established a track record in the community.

"Great family owned business with amazing quality wood. Wouldn't go anywhere else. We've gotten mulch, firewood and many different types of wood for home projects such as remodeling our kitchen to building a garden, to an amazing kitchen island. They are always very accommodating and you can't beat their prices."

"My Husband and I have been here a couple times. We always get excellent service! Most recently we purchased distressed wood to make a “pallet wall.” It turned out beautiful!"

"Sadly, despite all the positive reviews, I have to report that in regards to “seasoned” firewood, this company cannot be trusted. I ordered 5 cords of air dried, seasoned firewood and was given wet, unseasoned wood. Speaking to customer service, and eventually the owner himself: he admitted the firewood was not seasoned, but would only sell me more “kiln dried” firewood as a recourse, saying that his employees should have told me as much. When I ordered the firewood I asked 7 times if the wood was seasoned, ready to burn, and seven times I was told of course. A shame their good reputation in terms of lumber is hiding such a terrible firewood practice, actively screwing over customers."
